I work in variety of mediums and styles. When making art I am not limited by either medium or subject matter. I move between media/subject to express myself, working with whatever medium works best. But, I am most passionate about mixed media collages. I scavenge for materials and dig out objects that no longer have value in human eyes. No object is too insignificant in my eye and by reusing scrap materials I feel I am helping the environment in a very small way. By reusing these so called “rejects”, I give my works a sense of history and continuity.
What I love about creating collages is that I feel like a child again: tearing, smearing, rummaging and coloring! The fact that I am not limited in my materials (and hence inspirations) is a great motivator for my making art! When I start out I never know what I am going to end up with. In that way my art is intuitive in nature and most often process takes precedence over planning! That’s what makes the art of mixed media painting/collaging so exciting. Each day is a new adventure that I can’t wait to begin.
